It had been a long-time now that Thai Intel posed the question as to why the International Red Cross has remained so silent on the death at a refuge sanctuary-Wat Wanaram-where medics were killed with Red Cross symbol on them.
Thai Intel have kept silent on the issue-since Thai Intel rationalized that the events were fresh and still unclear as to what happened-as Thai Intel was the first media to exposed the event at the sanctuary-as the Thai military going into the sanctuary and gunned down people at a medic tent where red cross flags were clearly present.
So Thai Intel waited-believing that the International Red Cross wanted to gain a clear picture of the events-as who is Thai Intel for the International Red Cross to believe.
But it is now about 4 months after the slaughtering at the Red Cross tent and also of medics holding the Red Cross flags.
Since then-the testimony of many people-including medics who survived-have clearly stated that the Thai military are the perpetrators of those killing.
Furthermore, the case have reach the Thai legal stage-where does anyone need to remind the International Red Cross that the Thai justice system is under the government control-and this is made more crucial as those medics that survived the massacre-have been waging a campaign just to get that justice system to listen to what they witnessed.
Please do not force Thai Intel to talk about the structure of the Thai Red Cross-that is filed with the Thai royalist-who are on the side of the Thai military that did the likings and Thai government.
Please do not force Thai Intel to print the Thai Red Cross management structure and expose what is going on.
The International Red Cross-as a unit have gained respect by all warring parties to help those that are injured in war-because of its non-political position-and as a purely humane organization.
For the International Red Cross to stand silent-when medics holding red cross flags are gunned down-and not coming out to say a single word-is a grave in-justice.
The move sets the example for the next conflict-in that the International Red Cross is politicized.
To put it bluntly, if new protest occurred in Thailand-and a new crackdown looms-what would medics hold up?
A Red Cross symbol?
